A daily practice of gratitude is a key to finding more joy in life.
Keeping Bible verses nearby that bring a reminder of thankfulness help me to keep this mindset a priority.
As I go throughout my day I try to be conscious of the things I am grateful for big and small.
One of the things I’m working on is getting better at memorizing scriptures so I can pull them to mind easily.
It can help to keep little cards like these I’ve made out where I can see them and review.
You can screen save these too and have them ready to look at on your phone when you want encouragement.
Using verses from the Bible as a prayer is a beautiful way to say thank you to God.
Choose a verse or passage and read or recite it as part of your prayer.
Keep a gratitude list in a journal.
It can be a special one like the ones I’ve shared at the bottom of this post, or it can just be a blank spiral notebook.
Type a list into your phone notes so you can update your list on the go.
As your lists grown it will be a wonderful reminder for the times you feel discouraged, frustrated or down.
Pull up the list or open that journal and begin reading off all the things to be thankful for and it will help raise you up.
There is wonderful wisdom in these verses as well, reminders like how what we do, our obedience to God is an act of thanksgiving, not only our words.
As we begin to say thank you and count our blessings, we will see more and more.
We will begin to overflow with thankfulness.
Worship and praise music is a favorite way of mine to share my thanks to God too.
Here are a few favorites of mine right now:
- Gratitude by Brandon Lake
- I Thank God, Upper Room
- Thank You Lord by Chris Tomlin and featuring Thomas Rhett & Florida Georgia Line)
- Thank You, Hillsong Worship
- Grateful by Elevation Worship
- Goodness of God, Bethel Worship
- Be Glad, Cody Carnes
As we get more and more full of thankfulness and we fill with joy we can spread that joy to others.
Our positive outlook will be an outward reflection of Jesus at work in our life.
