The interview begins with Kyle sharing his childhood, particularly as it pertains to art and writing and how that led him to where he is today. Kyle had a goal to write a book by forty. He shares how writing and drawing are an escape. An escape from reality, from your own thoughts and brain.
“I keep a sketchbook journal that I always have on me, and so it’s kind-of this brain that you keep outside your brain to think and to step away” ~ Kyle
Through journaling, drawing, or being creative in whatever form suits you, you can create a getaway for your mind, a mental vacation even for just a moment.
We hear from Kyle the work it takes to follow your dreams. To follow your dreams means rejection and becoming vulnerable in the process of chasing your desires, hopes, and dreams. He shares his journey and what he has learned along the way.
“After publishing, the bigger gift of that or the bigger purpose in writing is the conversation that comes with it, being able to connect with people” ~ Kyle
He shares how everyone is artistic in their own way and everyone has an imagination, it just matters what you do with it. All of these lessons Kyle teaches in his workshop for why you should write, even if you hate writing.
“Arts just stops us, causes us to stop, look and listen” ~ Kyle
Kyle shares the importance of giving your mind time to rest and shares some wonderful insight on daily habits that could change the way you live your life and how you view your world.
Beyond this discussion, Kyle shares three of his readings that center around love, faith, escaping reality, and the simple pleasures in life that make it worth living.
“It means I’ve experienced something more than myself and my usual beaten path” ~ Kyle
It was so great to have Kyle L. White join us on the Cabincast and it’s truly is a must-listen for anyone who has a daydream, or is looking for inspiration and motivation with Midwestern touches.
