Episode 23, “A Northern Lakes Mystery” is LIVE! On this episode we interview author Jeff Nania. Jeff has three books thus far, Figure 8 which came out in 2019, Spider Lake that came out in 2020 and his newest book Bough Cutter which comes out May 25th 2021!
Erik and I start the episode chatting about all things books and reading. Erik shares his favorite reading memories growing up and the we also share wur book recommendations.

To begin the interview with Jeff Nania, we hear about his background of growing up in Madison, Wisconsin. Jeff shares his cabin history and the story behind how Figure 8, his first book, came about. Jeff shares the general themes of the book and its deeper meaning.
We end up going back to the same place at different times in our life with a completely different experience- Jeff
We then hear from Jeff on his process of character development and where he gains his inspiration for each one of his characters. Jeff also gives us insight on the meaning behind his dedication to the Aldo Leopold Foundation because of his belief in the restoration of the land.
We also hear about the setting of the story and why The Northwoods is the perfect place for a mystery.
I think that a good mystery has two settings, the setting where the book was written and the setting where you read it- Jeff
