New lighting updates to the dining room and game room from Urban Ambiance give better lighting and style to two of our most used spaces.

New lighting updates to the dining room and game room were a priority when we purchased our getaway property and Urban Ambiance had an amazing selection, easy to use website and great customer service. We found the perfect lights for our upgrade projects.

In May of 2020, after several years of searching we found our getaway property. We had been looking for an acreage where my husband and kids could hunt. We also wanted it to have a home on the land so that we could spend time there as a family.

As we looked we became interested in the area of Wisconsin known as The Driftless Region on the border of Wisconsin and Iowa. We have two kids in college in Iowa and this area is a great spot to meet them.

When we found our perfect getaway it had everything we were looking for and more. There’s great fly fishing all around the area. Our land has space for gardens where we’ve planted vegetables and pumpkins and there’s an apple orchard.

We have had to do a lot of work on the property and to the home, many things were necessities fixing broken things or upgrading systems. Other things were cosmetic to give the spaces our style.

The Dining Room

The main thing we wanted to change were some of the light fixtures. The house is designed in a Frank Lloyd Wright style and we love the modern lines and rustic elements of our prairie style home. I did not like some of the contemporary lighting though, like above the dining room table.

We decided to make a change to a different style of pendant and I knew the company I wanted to choose our new lights from, Urban Ambiance.

The lighting came quickly after I ordered it and was packaged securely and well. The instructions inside were clear and easy to follow for installation.

My husband and I are not electricians, so we called our electrician in to help with the install.

One of the things I love about the pendants we chose, was that we could decide the length of where they would hang.

I also used Edison bulbs in the pendants. I love the round shape and vintage look they add.

I couldn’t be more happy with the new Urban Ambiance lights. We chose the Modern Farmhouse Modern Pendant with the bronze finish from the Bristol Collection. They are exactly the look I was going for, the mix of the rustic iron and the glass panels.

The framed print above the fireplace is a Grant Wood. It is a great representation of what this area of Wisconsin and Iowa look like with the farm fields and rolling bluffs. It is an absolutely beautiful place in this country and so peaceful.

When driving around we have to slow down, take in the views and relax as we often are behind a tractor or an Amish wagon.

We love eating in the dining room by the fireplace and the light given off by these new pendants is perfect. They are on a dimmer and can be set to our desired setting.

The Pool/ Ping Pong Table

We also went with a light from Urban Ambiance when we wanted to change out this contemporary light above our ping pong/ pool table.

We never liked this contemporary chandelier and wanted something more rustic.

We love our basement pool table that can convert to a ping pong table too. The kids spend a lot of time playing against each other. So does my husband and his friends when they go stay there.
