Summer on the lake officially kicks off on Memorial Day and is enjoyed all the way through Labor Day. I love decorating inside and out for the season. We welcome many visitors during the summer enjoying time with family and friends.
Most of our time is spent on the lake or in our outdoor spaces as we enjoy the beautiful weather and water sports. In this post I wanted to share with you our outdoor spaces.
So welcome to a look at summer at Camp Paradise!

I have a pair of vintage water skis that I love to display on the front porch for the summer. My favorite summer plants are ferns. To make a rustic plant stand I just used some stumps we had in the woods, cute and free.
Out in front of our house we have several Adirondack chairs. They help add to the welcoming feeling, saying “you’ve made it, now come and relax.” We sit in them often waiting for friends to drive up or watching the kids ride bikes in the driveway or shoot hoops by the garage.
One of my favorite summer sprays I have hung on the garage door. One of my daughters painted the Happy 4th of July sign on a scrap piece of wood.
This year I added small American flags to the red geranium arrangement. One of my favorite parts of summer is that American flags and red, white and blue decor lasts the whole season.
The twig wall art was made by one of my sons. We saw something like it while visiting a neighboring community and when he saw how much I liked it, we took a picture and he made me one. 🙂
We spend a lot of time on our back patio. It’s a great place to sit and visit while watching the kids play in the backyard. The anchor pillow and little red table are from TJ Maxx. So are the red bowls. The flag pillow is from Pottery Barn Teen. The napkins are from World Market. The sailboat placemat is from the dollar store. You can see our fire pit in the background.
I love having a collection of paper straws I can pull out to use when guests are over. This sweet vintage pitcher I found at a local shop. You can see in the background a few of the Canadian candles my husband makes and lights. He spaces them around the yard to help keep mosquitoes away. He takes a stump and using the chainsaw cuts slits across the top like a pie going down 3/4 of the way and then lights them. A candle like flame burns out of the top. They are beautiful!
I keep crackers, cheese, sausage and veggies on hand to make a quick tray of snacks to share when we come off the water and everyone is hungry or guests stop by.
The hammock in the corner of the backyard is a popular spot. You can find my husband napping there, my daughter and her friends all sitting in it talking, even our dog likes to jump up in it and snuggle.
We love hanging out on the back deck that opens up off of our kitchen and dining room to look out over the lake. I enjoy setting up fun ways to share snacks and drinks with my friends and family. I keep a drawer in the kitchen full of fun straws, add them to my simple mason jars= instant fun! A few of my vintage thermoses make great vases. The mason jars, the garden stool and lantern are from Walmart. The straws, tray and red table are from TJ Maxx.
Down by the water even our shed gets special attention. The side facing the water is decorated with an American flag, a wooden buoy and an anchor pillow I found at TJMaxx, an adirondack chair and lantern from Pier 1.
The side of the shed facing the house has our surf and wake boards.

You have blown me away again! This looks like a resort magazine post, only filled with more loving, special touches by a mother and wife for her family!
I would love to see those mosquito log candles lit, I am intrigued as I have never heard of those or seen anything like them. I am not sure if you know already, but it is now proven that mosquitoes and also carry Lyme disease and other tick borne infections in addition to ticks, so I am glad to see you are taking great preventive measures. Your patio area is stunning!
Thank you for sharing your amazing style at the Patriotic Party. Have a great holiday!

Thanks so much Amber! You are such an inspiration to me and your compliments mean the world! I need to do a post about his log candles! We have also just started spraying our yard for mosquitoes and it works really well. It’s a company that comes once a month.
