HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
- This week my neck of the woods was the Black Forest of Germany and Bavarian region of Germany and Austria. My high school daughter and I went over to visit my other daughter who is living there and had such an amazing time.
- It’s such fun to meet the wonderful people in her life and experience the places that she has been calling home for the past several months. I’m heading home with some new friends myself, even more respect and awe for the brave, amazing girl she is and my heart full, but already missing her again. Time to start planning for the next trip over.
- Besides enjoying the towns she lives near, we took a drive down the Autobahn to visit Salzburg. Yesterday, I shared a little about our time there and the incredible castle hotel we stayed in HERE. I’ll be sharing more in posts coming up.
- We got to experience several different German Christmas Markets as we traveled around and they did not disappoint. They were magical and special from the decor, the food, and the pure joy of the people gathering.
What I’m Reading
I saw an Instagram Reel or TikTok, can’t remember which now, where author Ann Patchett shared about a little book she loved reading and I ordered it right away for my trip.
The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennet has been the perfect light, entertaining read and charming story.
It’s a must for all book lovers. Get your copy HERE.
What I’m Watching
If you’ve been following along for a while then you may remember this Summer that my daughters and I were doing Sunday movie + spa nights.
We picked up the fun on the trip this week minus the spa parts, but curling up to watch our favorite Christmas movies each night.
Maybe some of these are your favorites too or ones to watch again.

What I’m Listening To
Every year since my kids were toddlers there has been a Christmas family movie.
My brother in law started the tradition, then my niece took over and now one of my daughters.
Part of our Christmas tradition is to rewatch them all. They are such great memories.
The playlists from all the videos are part of the highlight too.
They are full of Christmas songs as well as other popular or classic songs that in some ways become holiday favorites because they remind us of those videos.
My daughters and I were singing them in the car this week and enjoying the warm wonderful moments they bring back.
Do you have songs to put together into a family playlist?
It would make a fun Christmas gift or family activity over the holiday break.
