THRIFTING WITH THE GALS
It’s fun to share thrifting adventures over on Instagram Stories and here on my blog as I shop my local antique shops in Minocqua, Wisconsin and on my travels.
I join my Thrifting With The Gals friends too as they share from around the country where they live in Vermont and Maine, North Carolina, and Florida.
Follow our hashtag #thriftingwiththegals to see the adventures as each gal shares.
My Thrifting With the Gals cohosts then come together each month for a blog hop to share how we are decorating with our treasures in our own home as well as upcycling and craft projects too.
Thanks so much to Ann Dabbling & Decorating for getting this fun group started years ago.

It’s stunning!
WELCOME TO CAMP PARADISE
I’m kicking of the hop today.
Treat this like its a Sunday afternoon and you are goin’ vision’.
It’s a virtual pop in to say hi at each of our homes to see our fun thrifted finds.
Now, if only you were really stopping by and I could serve you some coffee cake!
You have now been welcomed into my lakeside, log cabin home in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
Typically all winter it looks a bit more like this:
Like a marshmallow world.
Vintage Marshmallow Tins
When I’m collecting old items for our cabin home I love seeking out items that have a nostalgic campy feel.
Items that I can picture would have been used to enjoy lake life “back in the day.”
One of those items, and what I consider a must have are marshmallow tins.
Marshmallow Tins are Perfect For A Hot Chocolate Bar
I love setting up a self serve hot chocolate bar throughout winter for everyone to enjoy as they get warm and cozy.
How to Display Vintage Collections
When I can bring many pieces of my collections together it truly makes them a work of art. They are so visually appealing, and can stack for more height.
As I decorate a mantel, I like a variety of items in different sizes, colors, textures.
Set one thing down on a clear mantel and then start styling around it.
Here you see some of my red lantern collection and some of my picnic baskets too.
Use Vintage Tins as Vases
One of my favorite ways to use vintage tins is to hold fresh blooms.
I add a mason jar of water inside to keep the tin safe.
It’s such an easy way to make a special arrangement.
For this one on the picnic table I just plopped an already potted Gerber daisy inside, 1.2.3 done.
Here are a few more posts about using tins HERE and HERE.
Marshmallow Tins Around the Campfire
Nothing is more “campfirey” than marshmallow tins.
Try using them to hold all the fixings you need to bring from inside to outside and save a few trips and have cute accessories on hand then too.
Fill one tin with marshmallows (of course), another with chocolates and another with a variety of cookie options.
We prefer using cookies like a chocolate chip instead of crumbly graham crackers.
Next up you are headed over to my friend Robyn’s at Robyn’s French Nest to get inspiration for Spring decorating.

Your home is the perfect backdrop for any vintage item! I love the vintage tins! I remember buying a tin of Hershey’s chocolate chip cookies in Hershey, Pennsylvania about 40 years ago! It is something I log ago passed onto someone else filled with homemade cookies of my own baking! The pictures of the snow certainly make one want to curl up in front of a fireplace indoors!

Kristin,
Each time you post your tin collections, it makes me want to go thrifting. You do such a great job styling them in your cozy cabin. As always a great article.
