For the Love of Reading Book
My Love of Reading book is usually a book of fiction, often a best seller, something that has caught my eye or been recommended to me. These are books I can get lost in.
In the years after World War II, one family’s life is shared against the backdrop of the mining town of Bakerton. The five Novak children, with their distinct personalities are growing up during what we now nostalgically call The Greatest Generation. This is a look back at an industrial time when the world was quickly changing. It’s a love story to the past.
When looking for what to read this month, Baker’s Tower caught my attention right away. My husband and I just watched a documentary about the mining town of Butte, Montana and what the mines had meant to and done to the town and it’s people. Historical fiction is my favorite genre and my interest was already piqued on the topic of mining towns, so I am excited to start this book! I hope you’ll read it with me!
Wait Time Book
My Wait Time Book is a book I keep with me in the car or in my purse so that I always have something I’m excited to read when I’m waiting at appointments or for my kids to finish a practice. It is typically a memoir or a personal development book, a book to motivate me personally or professionally.
The author of one of my favorite blogs, Thistlewood Farms, has a book that has been in my pile of “can’t wait to read” books. KariAnne writes every blog post with honesty, humor and everyday inspiration. You feel like she’s speaking directly to you as a dear friend.
“It’s a memoir about a girl who set out to change the world from her farmhouse in Kentucky–and a farmhouse who changed her right back.” Karianne Wood, Thistlewood Farms
Beautiful DIYs mix with real life stories, So Close to Amazing will make you feel like you are not alone at working on being YOU, the YOU God made you to be.
Quiet Time Book
My Quiet Time Book is a book I read a bit of each day to help me grow deeper in my faith. Sometimes the book helps focus on prayer and reflection and sometimes it gets me deeper into the Word.
Six lessons take us through the five habits that Ruth of the Bible used to keep persevering and her focus on God.
- Learn to follow through on your commitments despite your feelings
- Create space for the movement of God and release control to Him
- Embrace the grace of refinement rather than the relief of release
- Invest in the world with joy
- Cultivate an unbreakable spirit
- Persevere through life’s most difficult moments
- Refuse to give up on your heart’s deepest desires From Amazon
