Our most used bathroom during the summer season was in need of some style. A few nautical touches and
From our walk out basement french doors lead onto the back patio and the path down to the lake. Outside on the patio is the outdoor shower and room to entertain and relax. The fire pit is just off the patio and trail.
The bathroom waiting for a makeover is just inside.
It’s the bathroom that gets used when we run in from the lake or the backyard, so it’s often seen by guests. It is also a favorite spot because of the Jacuzzi tub.
It is a charming space with the paneled walls and green tile and has always felt spa like and relaxing to me when I sneak down to soak in the big tub. But I wanted to give the space more character and style and have been waiting to add pieces to make it more welcoming and pretty. So… #1 spa like space to soak in the tub #2 bathroom to use coming in from the lake #3 guests often use. These three things I tried to remember as I decorated.
The first thing I added was my collection of vintage green vases. I started collecting these in high school. My first one was the little scalloped vase second from the right. Then my grandmother passed down to me the beautiful deep green vase on the right and the collection was born. This seemed like the perfect spot for them~ safe up high, they pull out the green of the tiles and the sun shining through them in the window is beautiful. I can easily take down the vases to use in my decor or entertaining elsewhere as needed.
Next, I found these pretty painted paddles at World Market. I loved the colors and the lakeside touch they gave to the space reminding us we are moments away from being back in the water. I picked up a houseplant at Walmart wanting to have some live greenery in the room.
If I wanted to enhance the spa like feel of the bath, adding sponges, bath salts, bubble baths, etc. to pamper myself and guests was a must.
I brought down a small stool to set beside the tub to hold towels or soaps. The nautical knot I found at Hobby Lobby and I pulled in the colors off the paddles with the washcloths and towels.
I found a wire tiered hanging basket at TJMaxx that I put in the corner to keep more towels, soaps and sponges close by.
To pull in more nautical touches I found these calming sky blue pieces at Hobby Lobby. Now cotton balls, q-tips and soap are there for easy access in these cute candle holders. As we come into summer I will fill the middle candle holder with band aids (we go through a lot!.)
The little side shelf still has room for guests to use the space to hold personal items.
The view as you walk into the bathroom is so much more inviting.
I also found this galvanized basket with rope handles at Hobby Lobby. It works great to hold extra towels. With reminders to Relax and “Seas the day”, life lakeside in our spa bathroom now has more style and I accomplished my goals to have a spa like space for family and guests reminding them they are steps from the lake.
