I was born in 1974 to the most amazing mom. She is wise, supportive, and the greatest example of a Godly woman, wife, and mother. As a grandmother she is perfection, the Nana who makes every moment special. She deserves a gift as incredible as she is!
(Above) Mom expecting me, her first; my three siblings followed over the next nine years.
My mother-in-law is just as special, I am so lucky! She is the most loving grandma to my children. The perfect Mother’s Day gift for her needs to let her know how much we love her.
Finding a unique and fun Mother’s Day gift is not always easy, but I spent some time thinking of ideas that would be special this year and wanted to share them with you.
These ideas will hopefully give you new products to gift, not only on Mother’s Day, but also when you need the perfect gift for a girlfriend, sister or other special lady in your life.
Signs of Love
A wonderful Mother’s Day gift idea is a sign with a special message, quote or colors to fit in with her decor. I watch for wood decor to go on sale at Hobby Lobby for 50% off. I am able to find the cutest signs for great prices like my “Oh Happy Day” shown below. If you are shopping at Hobby Lobby and what you want is not on sale, be sure to get the Hobby Lobby App. It will give you all the sale flyer information for each week and a 40% off coupon right on your phone that the cashier can scan toward one regular priced item.
Add in Other Beautiful Items
McCoy pottery is also a beautiful Mother’s Day gift. Vintage vases, like these, come in cheery, pretty colors like this blue (below) or greens or yellows. You can find McCoy pottery at local antique shops or on line sites like Etsy. You can add a pretty plant or bouquet inside the McCoy pot or vase. These pretty faux flowers are from Hobby Lobby.
Candles, like this pretty one from Driftwood Decor , also make a great gift. In several fragrance choices you are sure to find a favorite for the special lady in your life.
When I asked our local distillery, Northern Waters Distillery, what their most popular products are, they shared their Coffee Flavored Vodka. Using a local coffee roaster, Eagle River Roasters, they crafted this vodka to enjoy neat, on the rocks or in a cocktail. If your mother is a fan of gin, whiskey or other liquor, a small batch bottle would be a perfect gift. Pair it with a fun sign like this “Whisky in a Tea Cup” and a vintage tea cup to complete the gift.
Together with a sign from Hobby Lobby, a coffee cup and journal make a perfect Mother’s Day gift for a reader and woman of faith.
This sweet sign sums up what mother’s do best, they “Let Love Grow.”
For the Kitchen
Cookbooks, both vintage and recent publications, make a great Mother’s Day gift. These Pioneer Woman cookbooks look beautiful on the shelf and are full of crowd pleasing step by step recipes. Other favorite cookbooks of mine are by Ina Garten and Trisha Yearwood. I’m drawn to vintage cookbooks with pretty covers.
Cake stands also make a great gift. This jadeite stand is from World Market. Vintage cake stands can be found in many different styles and sizes at local antique shops at very reasonable prices.
In addition to a cake stand and cookbook, you can add a pretty kitchen towel to your Mother’s Day gift. This cute green and white checked towel is from Kohls.
Specialty soaps and lotions like these from Michel Design Works I purchase mine locally at TrigsFloral. With gorgeous labels and an abundance of scents, they are a perfect gift for mom.
Of course vintage milk glass, like this hobnail dish, or green vases are also pretty gifts that can be found for reasonable prices at local antique shops or on Etsy.
Specialty Cotton Candy
A friend gave a gift to another friend last year and the giftee was sweet enough to share. When I tasted her Chardonnay Cotton Candy… Oh My Word! This would be such a fun gift to remember for my mom. And then I found out that they have lots of flavors, perfect for everybody I know!
In Minocqua I can find the cotton candy at Chocolates & More at a very reasonable price! You can find it on line at The Chocolate Storybook.
As a matter of fact, what fun would this Merlot flavor be to serve for dessert at a dinner party? Yum!
The Chardonnay is still my favorite! These cute plaid coasters are from Draper James in Nashville. I picked them up this fall on a trip there. Each coaster has a different phrase on it, like “Cheers Y’all”! My vintage tobacco pail makes a great wine cooler.
Those of you that have followed me for a while know that I like to take a fun snack to school pick ups for my kids. It’s magic to stop the arguing and complaining on the drive home from school! 🙂 Recently I put pinches of this hot chocolate flavored cotton candy in bags for them after school. They loved it! My mom would love it too!
My sister loves Margarita’s, she will love a gift of Margarita Cotton Candy! Maybe this would be your mom’s favorite?
Gourmet Popcorn
Not only does specialty cotton candy make a fun Mother’s Day gift, but gourmet popcorn does too! Minocqua Popcorn Company offers several flavors and mixes in cute tins. Their Popcorn Club lets you have popcorn delivered monthly, a gift for mom all year! Minocqua Popcorn is delicious!

Favorite Magazine Subscription
Another wonderful gift idea is to give a subscription to a magazine your mom would love. Maybe Magnolia Journal, Country Living or a regional favorite like Midwest Living or Southern Living.
