Find inspiration in this Spring Home Tour for your own home. Kristin is sharing coffee table and mantel styling and decorating ideas for your living room.
All week long, The 2020 Spring Home Tour hosted by Marty of A Stroll Thru Life has shared gorgeous posts from talented decor bloggers. Marty is such an inspiration and I am so honored to be part of one of her tours again this Spring! You can find a full list of all participants and links a the bottom of this post.

If you are coming over from my friend KariAnne’s home Thistlewood Farms, welcome! Believe me, KariAnne’s home truly is just as beautiful as her pictures. I was lucky enough to be a guest at her Inspire Workshop this Fall sitting around her gorgeous dining room. So from her home in Texas you have now traveled straight up to our lakeside log cabin home in The Northwoods of Wisconsin.
This year I decided to do something in blues for our Spring decor. I tend to go with greens. After our long winters with averages of 100″ of snow I’m usually ready to see some green. The lake behind our house is still frozen and snow is still on the ground, so Spring comes to the inside of our home first.
I found my inspiration this Spring with some fabrics at Walmart. I have a bunch of barnwood frames from Hobby Lobby that I thought would look wonderful with different fabrics tacked inside and layered on the mantel. See last year’s mantel inspired by greens and botanicals here.
The Mantel
My red buffalo plaid chairs are signature pieces in our cabin and even though they are bold, I treat them as a neutral. Everything looks great with them! This is the first time I’ve paired them with my blue pillows, and I love it!
A few interesting things:
- My kids call our mantel the breadstick.
- The moose head was carved by a local chainsaw artist.
- I keep our matches in the vintage picnic tins.
- Our fireplace uses real logs and helps heat our home- keeping it extra cozy.
- My husband and kids help chop and split the wood. (I shared a bit of this on my Instagram stories this week. Come follow along and see our Northwoods Life.)

The Coffee Table
I love mixing newer statement pieces with my vintage finds. I love McCoy pottery for it’s colors and shapes. It makes me so happy! I pulled out one of my blue pieces to set on the coffee table and added in a faux bouquet.
Three little birds from Hobby Lobby sing:
” Don’t worry, about a thing,
Every little thing is gonna be alright.” ~ Bob Marley
And a few favorite Spring colored books are pulled out and taking center stage. All of these books, like KariAnne’s (remember her gorgeous home tour), are not only beautiful on the coffee table, but they will fill your heart too!

The Side Table
My little handkerchief table was one of my favorite finds at an estate sale years ago. It’s just the perfect size next to a chair to hold a few treasures like this wooden bunny, Easter basket and vintage Easter postcard.
Last year I styled my wood bunny on a tray. See it here.

The Entry Table
On a recent trip to a favorite local antique shop I found these sweet little salt and pepper shaker sheep. The Cloverbloom cheese box was in the same booth. I thought they’d make a great addition to our Spring decor this year. I picked up a shamrock plant at the florist to put inside.
The Desk
Below the stairs is another one of my favorite pieces. An old wooden boat turned into a book case. I love this cozy spot and often do my work here.
My vintage green typewriter holds another one of my antique Easter postcards next to some of my old green vases. I stuck a single faux daffodil in each vase. These vases are some of my favorite inexpensive things to collect. See more of my favorite vintage items to collect for under $10 in this post.

I change out the pillow in this much loved leather chair to match the seasons so a green plaid one replaced a red plaid pillow trimmed in fur. See it here.
