Prairie Style Living Room

Last year after a few years of searching we found some hunting property. We had been wanting some land that would be fun for the whole family to go to whether to hunt or to retreat for writing and reading. We named our place Badger Hollow and we love getting away as a family or with friends there.

The rolling acres full of prairie grasses and flowers over beautiful views and lots of projects. The property has a tiny cabin on it and a bunk house that we are having fun fixing up. There’s also a neglected orchard and overgrown gardens we can’t wait to bring back to life.

One of the areas I styled inside that we have greatly enjoyed, especially this Winter, is this little gathering spot around the fireplace.

The house is Prairie Style (think Frank Lloyd Wright) and we have given it our own twist on design. It is a mix of modern clean lines + traditional pieces we’ve collected over time and estate hunt club.

Next to the couch essentials sit on a side table. A thrifted green pedestal vase holds found antler sheds. I always love keeping playing cards out where they are easy to grab and play a game with. These beautiful deck I found in a local antique shop. The area around our land is also known for it’s trout streams so I chose these beautiful fly tie coasters.

Throw pillows in plaids, hides and hunting motifs blend beautifully. Soft throw blankets are easy to access and curl up under thrown over the chairs and couches. I love mixing textures and patterns.

To the left behind this seating area is the entryway. Hanging in the entry way is a piece of art Brian and I bought in a gallery on our 10th anniversary trip when we went to Sedona.

Behind the fireplace to the right is the kitchen.
