This color girl took on a challenge this week when asked to participate in a Neutral Winter Decor blog hop with an amazing group of talented bloggers organized by Kathy of A Delightsome Life. I am so inspired by these ladies and wanted to be a part of all the fun.

I am excited to kick off Tuesday for our Neutral Winter Home Tour. Didn’t you love yesterday’s tours of Kathy, Deborah and Bethany‘s gorgeous homes!
Three more homes are shared today, and again on Wednesday and Thursday. A full list of links is included at the bottom of this post for your reference and to help make it easy for you to come back and catch up when you have time.
For those of you visiting my blog for the first time, my name is Kristin and I live with my husband, our five children and two dogs (a Great Pyrenees & a Bernese Mountain Dog) in a full log cabin on a lake in The Northwoods of Wisconsin.
I often like to move around my furniture in the great room during different seasons depending on my mantel decor and how we will be using the room during that time. When the fireplace is the focal point for cozy winters I like to have many gathering spaces around the hearth.
Here’s our great room last winter where our buffalo plaid chairs and pops of red were used with vintage skis and plaids. You can see more of last year’s winter decor here.
Now this winter, neutrals have taken over.
Here’s a view looking down through the beams from the loft.
Warmth
Our fireplace was easy to keep in a neutral tone. The stones, the mantel and our moose head make a perfect backdrop to start layering. I then decided to shop our house to find pieces that reflect the snowy landscape outside and the woods surrounding us.
To see our mantel from Christmas and how we used our white trees for the holidays, see this post.
I kept up the white feather tree and two fur trees from our Christmas mantel. I just switched them to the left side. I also kept up the feather garland. I love the texture and depth it gives.
On the right side I layered two barn wood frames from Hobby Lobby that I use in my decor often. (like in this Halloween post.) I hung snowflakes by pushpins tacked into the back of the frame. These snowflakes had hung below the feather garland during Christmas. I tucked in a few sprays of pinecone branches and added my “Oh, let’s be adventurers darling!” print from Hobby Lobby.
On the left side with my white trees I have a historical logging print and antlers.
Gathering
We love to sit by the fireplace so I wanted to make sure there were cozy chairs placed in front that welcome you to come put your feet up, read or sip a warm drink.
In the winter I keep warm throws over the arms of chairs where they are easy to curl up in.
Candles add instant warmth and mood to the space.
And stacks of books encourage relaxing and reading.
Textures
I love to bring in many different textures to add interest. I use feathers and fur, wood and antlers, nailheads and leather. This antique chair was a favorite find. It reminded me of the chair my Grandfather always sat in.
I love to mix in vintage pieces like milk glass, this tobacco jar and snowshoes.
A croc tray keeps everything contained on our buffalo plaid ottoman that I covered in a fur throw to give it an instant winter neutral transformation.
Nature
I love bringing in elements of nature like pinecones, feathers, and snowflakes.
I have been so pleased with the look this blog hop challenge led me to discover.
I hope you will continue to follow along with me here at White Arrows Home. One of my favorite parts of participating in these blog hops is how it introduces me to new people who become followers and friends! You can sign up for my newsletter so you don’t miss a post on the sidebar. You can also follow along with me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. I share video stories each day on Instagram and Facebook where you can see our Northwoods life and ideas for home daily.
