Camp Paradise is our lakeside log cabin home in The Northwoods of Wisconsin where my family lives surrounded by pine and birch forests on the shores of a gin clear lake. White Arrow Signs point your way throughout our community. The nostalgic signs inspired my blog name.

Be Our Guest

We love having friends and family come visit us at the lake to enjoy the Summer activities.This year I redecorated my college aged daughter’s room so that it would be a welcoming space for guests as part of The One Room Challenge with Better Homes and Gardens. I went with a nautical cottage feel for the room and have loved how it turned out! From the paddle headboard to the stars pillow everything in this bedroom hints at the great Summer memories to be made.

Summer Camp

We love having the cousins to come and stay in the Summer! Late night talks and reading by flashlight are just part of their Summer traditions in the bunk room bedroom. They feel like they have their own cabin at camp all week.

Fresh Flowers

I love to add fresh flowers around the house especially in the guest bedroom. One of my favorite things to do is bring home a bouquet of flowers from the grocery store and then shop my home for what vintage piece to use as a vase. I loved these orange roses in the yellow McCoy pot. Set on a wicker tray they are a beautiful way to start the day. I always hope my guests will feel pampered and that they can sleep in late if they want. Fresh coffee brews out on the guest house counter and pastries await.

Changes

One of the quickest ways to give your bed a Summer refresh is to change up the bedding. It gets really cold in The Northwoods of Wisconsin. We get around 100 inches of snow and temps way below 0. So all Winter long we snuggle up in flannel sheets. I love deep colors of navy, red and green.

In the Summer, we switch the duvet over to lighter colors, put on cotton sheets, a matelasse coverlet and add in different throw pillows.

Reading

I love reading and curling up at night with a book from my Summer reading stack is such a treat!
