I’m so excited to be joining in for one of my favorite monthly blog hops, The Pinterest Challenge hosted by Cindy of County Road 407 . Each month all the bloggers participating use the same Pinterest inspiration photo to style their own space with elements they loved in the photo.
(Affiliate links are used for your convenience. Read my full disclosure here.)
Our inspiration photo this month came from Hymns & Verses. Doreen styled a beautiful Spring table with a centerpiece holding a bird house.
If you are coming over from Everyday Edits, welcome to our home! You’ll find a full list of bloggers and links for all on the tour at the bottom of this post.
Camp Paradise is our lakeside log cabin home in The Northwoods of Wisconsin where my family lives surrounded by pine and birch forests on the shores of a gin clear lake. White Arrow Signs point your way throughout our community. The nostalgic signs inspired my blog name.
The elements I took away from the inspiration photo were:
- a bird house
- a large container like Doreen’s wicker basket
- layers of dishes
- a fun napkin style
- birds
A Bird House
A Large Container
The inspiration photo uses a large wicker basket. I thought about using one of mine, I have a few I really love to decorate with, but decided to use my dough bowl instead.
I tucked in some faux greenery, moss balls and twig balls. I love the different textures together.
Layers of Dishes
I love to mix and match my dishwater sets. Lately I have used my thrift store find of this pink and cream pattern a lot. It’s Bristol Crown Ducal. I love the color and the scalloped edges. The birds on it help it fit the challenge well too.
For the bottom layer I used another set of thrifted dishes. They are thick like restaurant ware with dainty flowers on them. Perfect for Spring. And I love how they look layered with the Bristol.
A Fun Napkin Style
I am always in awe of tablescapers who are able to fold napkins in such beautiful and fun ways. The inspiration post had napkins folded to look like nests. I decided to wrap my napkins around a moss egg and tie with jute twine.
Though I was a debutante and took lots and lots of etiquette classes, one of the things I love is to set a table in creative ways. I put the napkin at an angle above and to the left of the plates and put the silverware across the plates rather than to the traditional sides.
Birds
I have little birds I love to add in Spring decor so this inspiration photo made me think of including them. I tucked a few little ones into the centerpiece and then had the Mama bird on the table nearby.
