It’s that time of year! The beginning of Summer, when you feel like there are endless days ahead of soaking up sunshine and hopefully taking life a bit slower. What do you love most about Summer?
The beginning of Summer also means it’s time for Summer Home Tours and I’m so excited to once again join Marty of A Stroll Thru Life for hers!
Welcome to The Northwoods
If you are coming over from Making It In The Mountains , then welcome from the mountains to the woods. I live way Up North in Wisconsin. Our lakeside log cabin home is surrounded by forests of birch and pine in an area known as The Northwoods.
Porches
My front porches got freshened up for Summer. The starting point for the front porch of the main house was the Gather rug I got from Carpet One. I love using vintage containers for planters so knew a few of my Skotch Koolers would look great.
Red, white and black accents filled in the pieces on the bench including my vintage cottage VACANCY sign.
Ferns and hydrangeas are two of my favorite Summer plants so I knew I wanted to include them!
On the front porch of the guest house I again was inspired by my Carpet One Welcome a Cure doormat. I decided to go along with the fun bright colors and do sky blues and reds.
The cooler, ski bag and camp blanket are three of my most recent finds. I love using items other than just a typical wreath on the door sometimes. This ski was a fun alternative.
See more the details of my Summer porches in this post.
Entryway
In our entryway we have a few things I consider essential. A bench to sit down and put your shoes on on, cubbies to hold the clutter, a mirror to check yourself before you walk out the door. a coat rack and a table.
I usually keep my antique Hawkeye basket on the entry table and style it for the seasons. This Summer I kept it simple and fresh with greenery and white flowers. See more in this post.
The Dining Room
The Great Room
I love styling my mantel for the seasons. I am still in love with how I styled my mantel for Spring, so for Early Summer I am leaving it this way. Probably toward the end of the month I will change it up.
The mantel in Summer tends to be red, whites and blues from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but I am still loving the green oars and accents so it may not change until Fourth of July this year.
The Lake Room
The room off our back patio I end up always just calling the lake room because it’s our going in and out point as we head to the water. It’s styled
