Thanks so much to Cindy of County Road 407 for hosting another fun Pinterest Challenge. Each month Cindy sends out a photo and link to a blog post to inspire all of us. We decorate a space in our own style with inspiration from the photo. It’s so fun to see how different all our interpretations are.
If you are coming over from DIY Beautify, don’t you love her new home and how she decorated her porch! Welcome now to our lakeside log cabin home in the Wisconsin Northwoods.

Bunting
Adding a patriotic bunting up for the 4th of July is quick and easy on our porch. I found bunting at Walmart and used push pins to hold it up to the wood railings on our back deck.
Bench
The bench I used is one of my favorites. It’s from the Better homes & Gardens collection at Walmart. I purchased three of them several years ago and have used them so many places. They are light weight, so easy for me to move on my own. They stack so take up very little room when not in use. And best of all they are so durable to sun and weather and stay pretty.
Here’s the same bench on the porch from past years and seasons.
Throw Pillows
I’m a throw pillow collector. i bet you are too. They are such an easy way to add a quick change for seasons or holidays. I’m usually quick to pull in red as an accent, but I went with blues and whites adding a gingham checked pillow from TJMaxx, an anchor pillow from my shop . The eagle pillow, I can’t remember where I got it years ago, but here’s another option.
Coffee Table
The coffee table is from the same collection as the bench. I love that it has an easy to clean glass top and a shelf underneath to easily hold more for entertaining.

Vase of Flowers
The inspiration photo had a white vase or pitcher full of blue flowers. I decided to use some faux geraniums I had. One of my favorite things to do with flowers, real or faux, is find a vintage piece to hold them like a vase. I decided to still with the nautical theme and use pieces from my sailboat canister set.
Red Geraniums
I was excited the inspiration photo used geraniums because they are my favorite Summer flower as well and I have them all around. See THIS POST to read more about how I decorate with them and links to all kinds of tips for making them bloom longer, grow from cuttings, etc.
A Vase of Flags
I used another one of my sailboat canisters to hold the bouquet of flags.
Fresh Fruit
The inspiration photo used watermelon, but I had strawberries around so added some to a blue gingham bowl and to the cup edge of glasses of lemonade.

Kristin, your porch is beautiful with those stunning red geraniums!!! I love the bunting tucked behind the sofa. I am looking for another sofa and will have to check out Walmart’s selection. The patio chairs and table (which is falling apart) that we currently have stacked away was from Walmart probably 17 years ago; it has served its purpose and well! The vintage style canisters are fun, too.
Happy 4th to you and your family,
Barb 🙂
